But let’s be real: Boots with a quarter-inch snip toe aren’t for everyone. But if they are for you — if they call to you, pull at your soul — then you stand out as a little more stylish than the next guy.

Wearing The Comal gives you a refreshing confidence. Some say it's also proven to increase dance moves by 10% (at minimum). And its sleek, aerodynamic design makes you a little bit faster. Meaning you’ll be able to outrun other boot-wearers. In case, say, your past tries to catch up with you. And staying one step ahead of that actually could change your life.

Our boots break in quickly thanks to a wider toe. After just a few days, they’ll feel like an old friend.

  • 100% leather: Cowhide upper (vamp, counter and shaft), plus bovine lining for instant comfort
  • Well heeled: Stacked leather heel, hard EVA middle lining, non-slip rubber bottom

Handmade in León, Mexico

Alvies boots and leather flip-flops are made by one of the oldest and most respected bootmakers in León, the bootmaking capital of the world. History fact: León has been a shoemaking hub since 1645. Many of the bootmaking OGs in our ethical factory have been crafting boots by hand for decades. They use traditional methods and are paid a fair wage for their skills.

Alvies Kicks Back: Eric Tessmer

Eric is a guitar virtuoso continuing in the great tradition of Austin legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Clark, Jr. He has been named Best Guitarist in Austin, but he doesn’t just shred — he’s also a talented singer, songwriter and semi-pro vintage truck mechanic (no, really).

He has chosen Austin Pets Alive! to receive charitable contributions from sales of The Comal for Alvies Kicks Back. APA is an animal adoption and advocacy organization focusing on animals most at risk of euthanasia. Their work has saved more than 80,000 animals and made Austin the largest No Kill city in the country.

    Great looking & Perfect fit!

    I’ve had these boots for just over 6 months and absolutely love them. Ive worn them to the office and weddings, very easy to dress up or down. They run true to size and are extremely comfortable. I’ve worn Lucchesees most of my life and these are just as nice for half the price. The leather is top quality. Next up is one of the exotics for me!

    Better than expected!

    I have purchased a pair of Alvies (Lamar) already and those are so outstanding. Once I seen the Comal in this Hildago Honey color with that blue striped heel and a pair of blue jeans in the Alvies pictures, I had to try a pair out. Let me just say a picture is worth a thousand words, but what I didn't expect to be even better was the way they ended up breaking in so well, the way they "walk" with a nice smooth confident heel to toe transition. I've received an abundance of compliments with these too, which always feels good. More importantly, my wife loves these on me. Outstanding pair of boots and I've had pairs and tried boots from a lot of the well known brands from the other "A" brand up to the big dog "L" brand and Alvies are simply top notch and no less than an equal. My highest recommendation.

    Love em!

    I've been in the market for a black pair of boots for a while now. Once I tried on The Comal's I quickly realized this IS the pair I've been in search of. They look great and are insanely comfortable (even on the first wear). Inside the boot they say they are built with soul -- and I can feel it!

    Fit and Finish

    Bought these a couple of months ago. Best fitting Boots out of the box i've bought for quite awhile. Love them. Grabbing another pair in the spring.

    Really really awesome boot

    I bought these boots around a month ago and have been wearing them every 3 days or so. They have already broken in unbelievably well, and are the boots I get the most amount of compliments for out of my 5. The snip toe is a great look, and if you’re trying to choose between snip and round I say go bold.
